CPD and Professional Networking Philosophy

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is important to me for a number of reasons. Practically, it enables me to keep abreast of developing industry standards and best practices to ensure the work I deliver is current. Motivationally, it helps to keep me engaged and excited by my work as I get to enjoy the journey of an ever changing industry rather than being subjected to it.

Most importantly, to me, CPD is what makes the difference between simply turning up to work and being a professional in the field.

Professional networking supports CPD by allowing me to connect with others in the industry who are likewise passionate, often specialising in their own areas. Connecting with other professionals not only provides the chance to share knowledge, experiences, and understandings, but permits me to learn of other opportunities through someone who is likewise willing to vouch for my integrity.

Currently, I work in public libraries with nearly ten years experience. Thus far my role has been of a supportive nature in the digital and IT environment. My goal is to move into more leadership roles where I feel I can better serve the community by helping build a positive and supportive work environment.
